Athletica brought their manufacturing and corporate headquarters under one roof.In May of 2005 Athletica relocated its manufacturing facility from Mississauga, Ontario and its corporate office from Minneapolis, to a new location in Minneapolis. The new facility houses all manufacturing, arena products warehouse and corporate offices.This move brings together both branches of the industry leading company and solidifies their commitment to providing the best service, safety and innovation in the field.
Premier Rinks, Inc. dba Athletica acquired Athletica, Inc., which was formed in 1999 by joining the two industry leaders in ice and in-line hockey dasher boards � Crystaplex and Border Patrol. Crystaplex has been the unquestioned leader and innovator in the ice hockey dasher board industry for over 35 years. Crystaplex dasher board systems are found in over 75% of NHL facilities and in over 2000 community rinks worldwide. The Border Patrol brand has grown to be the leader in permanent and portable in-line hockey rink systems. Together, Crystaplex and Border Patrol brands have continued to lead the industry with innovation and quality.
As the industry leader in the design, development and installation of state-of-the-art dasher board systems, Crystaplex Ice Rink Systems have been the key contributor of innovations to dasher design, offering industry firsts like aluminum dasher systems, seamless glass, flexible dasher board systems -CheckFlex, and the NHL-approved flexible shielding system - GlassFlex.
In-Line Sport Systems, Inc. created and defined the in-line dasher board category with an innovative portable rink system called Border Patrol, starting in 1993. As the popularity of roller hockey grew, Border Patrol continued to innovate, with the introduction of permanent and portable rink systems to fit the needs of in-line hockey players and communities.
In 1999, In-Line Sport Systems purchased Crystaplex from Laird Plastics, and the company was renamed Athletica. With the reputation for innovation and quality from both companies, Athletica has developed into a company that builds sport solutions beyond just hockey.
